food safety

As leading Cape Town meat wholesalers, we often around this time of the year cover the need for food safety and how best to prepare for the upcoming holidays. This year is no different, especially when we consider the continued need for the highest hygiene standards, and the rising cost of food where we want to avoid food wastage wherever possible.
So, to help you stay healthy and to save money this festive season, here are 7 tips to keep in mind:

As one of the best meat suppliers Cape Town has to offer, we take the responsibility of providing high-quality and healthy food very seriously. We also find it valuable to keep abreast of research and various food and health surveys, and the International Food Information Council Foundation (also known as Food Insight) is one of the more enlightening. Each year the council commissions a survey to further examine topical themes about health, diet, food safety, and sustainability.

Most often around this time of year N1, as responsible providers of the best quality meat Cape Town have to offer, cover the need for food safety and how best to prepare for the upcoming holidays next month, but this year it is more important than ever before! Considering the unprecedented experience of lockdown in 2020, most of us are looking forward to spending time with family and friends over the festive season, but we do need to be extra careful in terms of hygiene, social distancing, and food prep.

Unprecedented times call for unprecedented measures. As we all come to terms with an additional two weeks of lockdown in the hopes of flattening the COVID-19 curve, N1 is here to help.

We pride ourselves on being one of the best meat suppliers Cape Town has to offer and part of that success means adapting our service to suit current needs so it is with great pleasure that for the first time in our history, we are now open to the public, and better yet - we’ll deliver right to your door!

As leading South African meat wholesalers, N1 know how important it is to stay abreast of industry news and events and to ensure that consumers are similarly properly informed and kept up to date. Misconceptions creep in across all industries, and one site, in particular, Meat MythCrushers is dedicated to providing customers and media with the full picture when it comes to meat misconceptions.

We’re into December and for many of us that means planning ahead for the summer holidays. Along with the food requirements that entertaining friends and family brings, we also have to contend with the summer heat, and that means being extra careful when it comes to our food. Being more vigilant about best food practises in our hottest season ensures that not only do we enjoy a longer shelf life on our food products, but it ensures we all remain healthy too, because the last thing anyone wants while on holiday is to fall ill.

Freshness and safety play a paramount role in the wholesale meat South Africa industry, and N1 go to great lengths to ensure that all their food is produced according to the strictest food safety criteria. It’s something that concerns all of us – and one thing that governs many of our food choices is the sell-by date label on an item. I’m sure you’ve found yourself picking up a carton of milk and if you’re not satisfied with the date putting it back in exchange for a fresher item.

Every year the IFIC Foundation runs a Food and Health Survey to ascertain attitudes towards food and diet, how information sources affect choices, and how those choices affect health.
