Sausage has been with us since man learnt how to preserve food. The first recorded mention of sausage is sometime during the 8th century BC and it proved an immensely popular food amongst the ancient Greeks and Romans alike. At N1, leading Cape Town meat wholesalers, we offer a wide variety of delicious cold meats - ranging from pastrami and Russians to Parma ham and German salami loaf. A firm favourite amongst many, cured and smoked meats have been around since the earliest time of man – one of the first recorded recipes for ‘salted pork’ comes from Cato the Elder, a Roman statesman and historian who lived around 200 BC.
