WHOLESALE MEAT WESTERN CAPE & JOHANNESBURG

Quality, service and delivery are the N1 core values, and by being HACCP and ISO 9001 compliant and certified, the N1 team show their full commitment to these core values. In this way, and by continually reinvesting in their systems, N1 can improve their service to you. The HACCP principles have been covered extensively in previous blogs, but what exactly does it mean to be ISO 9001 compliant?

To understand the significance of ISO compliance, one needs to go back in time to its inception. A version of the organisation begun in 1926, known then as the International Federation of National Standardizing Associations (ISA), functioned until its suspension in 1942 during World War II. Shortly after the war in 1946 it was approached by the then newly formed United Nations Standards Coordination Committee (UNSCC) to create a new set of global standards - representatives from 25 countries gathered and the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) was conceived.

ISO has three official languages (English, French and Russian) and as the different languages all result in different acronyms, the decision was made to adopt ‘ISO’ which is based on the Greek word isos meaning ‘equal’. The International Standards provided by ISO cover nearly all aspects of technology and business – a standard “provides requirements, specifications, guidelines or characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their purpose.” ISO 9001, which forms part of the ISO 9000 group, is one of 19,500 such International Standards and the only quality management standard that can be certified – as such it is implemented by more than one million companies across more than 170 countries.

The benefits of being ISO compliant are numerous, not only does it ensure the safety, reliability and quality of products and services delivered; but the implementation of its strategy helps to decrease costs by reducing waste and increasing productivity. Being ISO 9001 compliant is simply another way in which N1 Restaurant Suppliers ensure that the high quality of their wholesale meat and other food products is constantly maintained; and that their customer satisfaction record – the driving force at the heart of everything they do - remains unparalleled.
